The PCSI is an easy-to-use assessment tool for identifying, understanding, and optimizing four major communication and coaching styles. With newfound awareness of these styles, coaches and leaders can leverage them to bring about better connection and collaboration - whether it's one-on-one or across entire organizations.
As we navigate a complex world with growing diversity and inter-connectivity, the ability to communicate effectively with a wider range of people is critical to success. Whether you are working in a large company, an entrepreneurial business, or you are self-employed, the PCSI will enhance your ability to relate to others. Subsequently, the implications of better understanding in communications are limitless in terms of leadership and coaching.
The PSCI was developed by Dr. Lee Smith and Dr. Jeannine Sandstrom of CoachWorks International, Dallas, Texas USA. It has been used since 1995 by tens of thousands of individuals worldwide and has been translated into several languages. It is the first coaching instrument developed by coaches for the coaching industry. Drs. Smith and Sandstrom saw a need for understanding and mastery of interaction styles from the coaching context. The inventory is not a psychological/personality tool. It is intended to be a self-inventory where people identify how they want to give and receive feedback and advice. It is best used as a snapshot of how individuals can have effective communication in relationships. While similar to other four quadrant styles, it has the distinction of being beneficial to coaches in every industry – from personal coaches, coach managers, executive coaches, or self-coaches.
